How do I register an account?

To register an account, visit the Account Registration page. The Account Registration page is also accessible via the Register link at the top of the page. Once you have registered an account, you will be able to add a business and submit applications to City Departments online.

How do I edit my account information?

To edit your account information, visit the Manage Your Business page. Then click on the appropriate (Edit) link on left side of the page to edit your account information. The Manage Your Business page can also be accessed via the navigation menu.

How do I reset my password?

To reset your password, visit the Account Login page and click the Forgot your password? link under the login area. Then follow the steps to reset your password.

How do I setup a business?

To setup a business, visit the Manage Your Business page and click on the +Add another business link in the Businesses section. Then fill in and submit the required business info.

How do I edit my business?

To edit a business, visit the Manage Your Business page and locate the business in the Businesses section. Then click on the edit icon under the Action column, make the necessary edits, and submit them.

What are the requirements for doing business in the City?

There are no general requirements for doing business in Rutland; however, there are important requirements for some specific types of businesses. Check the Permit & License Guide to see which permits and licenses may apply to your business.

How do I locate the permits and licenses required for my business?

To see the permits and licenses that may be required for your business, visit the Permit & License Guide and use the Business Type filter on the left side of the page to see which permits apply to different business types. If you have any questions, please contact the appropriate City Department.

How do I submit license and permit applications via this Portal?

After you have created an account and registered at least one business, you may submit license and permit applications online by visiting the Permit & License Guide. Locate the desired application using the filters on the left hand of the page and click the icon. Then fill in the necessary info for the application and click the Submit button. Some fields will be automatically populated based on the business that is selected from the dropdown at the top right of the page. Once submitted, the application will be automatically saved to your account. You can view it along with its current status on the Manage Your Business page. You will be notified via email when your application has been approved or denied.

Why is incorrect information being pre-filled on forms?

If incorrect information is being pre-filled on forms, check to make sure that the correct business is selected from the dropdown at the top right of the page. Also, check to make sure the information for the selected business is correct by going to the Manage Your Business page, locating the business in the Businesses section, and then clicking on the edit icon under the Action column to review all the information for the business.

Can I save permit and license applications to submit later?

Yes, you can save permit and license applications by clicking the save icon for the application on the Permit & License Guide or the application page itself.

How do I view the license and permit applications that I've submitted or saved

To view the license and permit application that you've submitted or saved, go to the Manage Your Business page and check the Forms section. Use the column headers to sort applications by name, business, status, or date. For submitted applications, you can download or print a PDF copy with the information you submitted.

How long does it take to process license and permit applications?

The processing time for permit and license application may vary based on several factors, including your business type, the specific permit or license applied for, and the information in your application. If you have any questions, please contact the appropriate City Department.

What should I do if my license or permit application is denied?

If your license or permit application is denied, go to the Manage Your Business page and locate the application in the Forms secgtion. Click the PDF icon and check the PDF to see if a reason for denial is listed. Then contact the appropriate City Department for instructions on how to proceed.

Can I submit license and permit applications offline?

Yes, you can submit permit and license applications offline. Download PDF versions of the applications by clicking the view icon for the application on the Permit & License Guide or the application page itself. Then fill out the PDF and submit it to the appropriate department either via email, postal mail, or in person at City Hall.
